TAS Elementary Visits Heartbeat Vietnam Recipients
A small act of kindness can have a great impact. The American School (TAS) has an annual fund raising event that donates to Heartbeat Vietnam. Heartbeat Vietnam funds life-saving heart operations for the most financially disadvantaged children.
On October 27, 2016, TAS had the privilege to meet some of the beneficiaries from the fundraising efforts in 2015. Ms. Betsy, teachers from ECC and ES (Ms. Ann, Ms. Lovely, Mr. Ian and Mr. Josh) and the Students of the Month from Grades 3, 4 and 5 went to Tam Duc Hospital in District 7 to visit four children who were given successful heart surgeries through Heartbeat Vietnam. The TAS Heartbeat Vietnam committee prepared goodie bags for the young survivors. To see the results of the school’s efforts was truly a heartwarming experience for the teachers and the students. These patients live far from the city and Tam Duc hospital provides rooms for them to stay overnight. These kids are still recovering from their surgery. The wounds are still healing but it gives us joy to know that they are getting better as the day goes by. It was such a priceless moment for the students and the teachers to have a close encounter with them. The visit also gives an opportunity to learn more about Heartbeat Vietnam. We are now ready to share what we learned and experienced during our visit. May we all be inspired by the lives of these young children. There still lots of children who are in need of surgery. If you are willing to make a great impact to the lives of others, join us in May 2017 for our Heartbeat Vietnam fundraising week! Let us all together save more lives!
